Netizens Call Out Problematic LRT Rider Who Hogs Seats, Peels Raw Garlic & Eats On Train
Many wondered if he could be prohibited from boarding for causing discomfort to other passengers.
Over the weekend, Malaysian social media was abuzz as several LRT commuters recognised the same problematic individual who hogs seats and peels raw garlic in the train
It started with a tweet by @annoyedmsian, who posted a photo of a man sitting in the LRT with his bag on an empty seat beside him.
"Beware of this inconsiderate guy on the LRT! Someone asked him to remove his bag from the seat and he made a face and refused. If you're gonna be a jerk on the train, you deserve to be called out publicly," wrote the X user.
The tweet garnered over eight million views, with many other public transport users sharing their own encounters with the odd and inconsiderate man
"This dude is always like this. [I took this photo] a few months back. Even though the train was full, he pretended not to know," replied an X user, attaching a photo of the man with his bag on an empty seat again.
Another said she saw him peeling garlic and snacking on raw asparagus on the train.
Someone said they saw the same man "having a picnic" on the train seats.
Many wondered if he could be prohibited from boarding for causing discomfort to other passengers.
According to the Rapid KL website, passengers who break the conditions of carriage — such as eating inside the train, being immodest, or dirtying the properties of Rapid KL — may be fined or prohibited from entering or remaining in a station.
Meanwhile, off the train, another netizen claimed that she saw the same man senselessly littering in a shopping mall
"Came across this guy in 1 Utama and saw him casually littering at Coffee Bean. He didn't buy anything, he just sat down, threw his trash on the floor and table, then up and left," she wrote in a tweet.
A Rapid KL representative told SAYS that their staff are aware of the individual
In a brief statement to SAYS, Rapid KL said their auxiliary police have arrested the man recently and issued him a stern warning.
"He also promised not to repeat this act," they said.
The company added that their auxiliary police are always patrolling and monitoring the train and stations should commuters require assistance.
However, they did not state if they would take further action should the man continue with his inconsiderate behaviour.
