18 KTM Windows Smashed After People Threw Rocks At Them, Claims Twitter User
Her father was driving the train when the incidents occurred.
As polling for the 14th General Election (GE14) looms ahead, emotions are running high among the rakyat, especially among supporters from differing political factions
Unfortunately, those strong emotions have also led to ugly situations that may endanger the general public, as apparent in the following incident.
In a post that has gone viral, a Twitter user alleged that a train her father was driving on Thursday, 3 May was repeatedly pelted with stones through its entire route
"My dad drove this train today from Sentul - Tg. Malim - Tampin and you know what happened? People threw stones at it," she wrote.
As shown in photos attached to the tweet, the Twitter user's father is believed to have driven a KTM enveloped in Barisan Nasional (BN) advertisements.
Although her father and the train's passengers were not injured, the Twitter user called the culprits out for not considering public safety before committing vandalism
"Even if you hate our government, you shouldn't do this. Imagine the safety of my dad and other passengers," she wrote.
"Before you want a better government, be a better you first."
At the time of writing, the post has been retweeted over 14,400 times. In addition, many are of the opinion that public transportation should not be a platform for political ads in the first place.
However, some pointed out that such acts of vandalism have been rampant since the beginning of time and urged others to not spin it into a political issue
Ultimately, it was universally agreed that Malaysia as a society still has a long way to go in terms of civic consciousness, regardless of the outcome for GE14
