2 Schools Close In Melaka After Students Test Positive For COVID-19
Contact tracing and sanitisation has been carried out since the closure.
After siblings were tested positive for COVID-19, two schools in Masjid Tanah were ordered to close for seven days
According to Berita Harian, the order was made by the Melaka Education director Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad.
Melaka Health and Anti-Drugs Committee chairman Datuk Rahmad Mariman told Bernama that the elder sibling studies at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Lubok China while the younger sibling is a student of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Telok Berembang.
"They both live in Kampung Nerambai, Lubok China, Negeri Sembilan but study in Melaka as their house is located right on the border of both states. The case is being handled by Negeri Sembilan."
Families of the siblings were also infected by the virus
Eight family members, including the two siblings, were tested positive and are being treated in Seremban, Bernama reported.
Early investigations have found that they had contracted the virus from their aunt who returned from Labuan.
Datuk Rahmad added that contact tracing has begun for the schools while cleaning and disinfection are being conducted by the Fire and Rescue Department.
