Unilever Malaysia Achieves Double Certifications For Workplace Wellbeing & Sustainability
These gold certifications demonstrate the company's commitment to people and the planet.
Unilever Malaysia has become the first fast-moving consumer goods company in Malaysia and the first Unilever office globally to clinch the coveted WELL Gold v2 certification from the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI)
The company's Bangsar South head office has earned itself two prestigious Gold certifications, placing them among the nation's top eco-friendly and wellness-focused corporate workplaces.
This recently-awarded accolade recognises the company's commitment to its employees' health and wellbeing. The WELL certification, based on rigorous performance standards for the built environment, puts Unilever Malaysia at the forefront in creating a healthier workplace.
Additionally, Unilever Malaysia achieved another remarkable feat this year, having earned itself the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold status in May. Awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council, LEED is the world's most widely recognised green building rating system. This achievement further cements Unilever Malaysia's position as a trailblazer in sustainable business practices.
Combined, these gold certifications demonstrate Unilever Malaysia's commitment to people and the planet.
Key features that contributed to the company's dual awards include:
- A remarkable reduction in potable water consumption by over 30%
- Energy-efficient glazing and lighting systems
- Continuous monitoring of air quality, water cleanliness, and thermal environment
- Routine access to nutritional education and mental wellness resources
- Ergonomically designed workplace and furniture
Lenny Chuah, Head of Country, expressed excitement about the milestone, explaining, "UniHome, which our employees fondly call our office, is designed based on the concept of 'Connect, Collaborate, and Celebrate'"
"While we are adopting a hybrid work environment where employees work in the office for two days and have the flexibility to work from home or anywhere for the rest of the week, we want UniHome to be a place where our employees can work and unwind, just like a second home. At Unilever, we don't just talk about sustainability – we live it, breathe it, and build it into the very foundations of our business," she added.
Nor Sabrina Masdar, an employee at Unilever Malaysia, shared her enthusiasm about the office, saying, "I'm grateful to work in a place like UniHome. I've found that the ample natural light and the thoughtfully designed office significantly enhance my mood whenever I'm in the office. Additionally, the captivating views of nature and proximity to a nearby park truly make our office an inspiring place to work."
