At the price of RM100 per month, members of the public will be able to enjoy unlimited access to public transport, The Edge Markets reported.

This move will be made to honour one of Pakatan Harapan's GE14 campaign pledges.

The aim of the initiative is to motivate members of the public to opt to commute using public transportation rather than other modes of transport

"The monthly pass is to encourage more people to use the MRT as well as buses which are already available," said Loke.

Just two months ago, the Transport Minister said that the plan to implement the unlimited public transportion pass needed to be reviewed before it could be implemented

According to Free Malaysia Today, Loke announced on 1 June that the initiative needed to be brought to the Cabinet before a decision could be made, since it would be "a huge financial implication."

He explained that when Pakatan Harapan came up with the idea prior to GE14, it did not have access to figures related to the costs of carrying out such an initiative as it was then the opposition.
