A dashcam video has caught a man standing on a highway and swinging his pouch bag at a vehicle honking at him in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan

The video was shared by Facebook user Up Wah Ab on Sunday, 29 May, stating that the incident took place on Temiang-Pantai Highway.

In the 10-second video, a man clad in black is seen standing outside the emergency lane on the highway.

When the vehicle honks at him, the man swings his pouch bag as if he is trying to hit the approaching vehicle.

This leads to the person driving the vehicle shrieking in fear.

The video, as well as screenshots of the footage, show a fleet of superbikes parked on the emergency lane

Several vehicles are also seen parked on both sides of the emergency lanes as the highway is nicknamed 'New Zealand' for its scenic view.

A search of the location on Instagram fetches many results of people taking photos on the highway flanked by green hills.

Some couples even take their wedding photos on the highway, which is especially picturesque when the sky is blue.

In January, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said he did not expect the federal highway to become a public attraction and that he would work with the federal government to build a parking space on the road, reported Berita Harian.

Despite its scenic view, the police would reprimand those who park their vehicles on the highway just to take photos

Some motorists were said to be fined over their action, reported The Star on 24 January.

As for the recent case, Utusan Malaysia reported that the police are currently investigating Up Wah Ab's video on Facebook under Section 48(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing an obstruction by parking a vehicle on the road.

Speaking to SAYS after the video went viral with over 2,900 shares, Up Wah Ab said he only honked at the man to alert him that he was outside the emergency lane, not to reprimand him

"Maybe he forgot that he was outside the white line and was on the road with moving cars," he said when contacted.

"And his action of swinging his pouch bag frightened me. I honked only to remind him, not to pick a fight with him."

In retrospect, Up Wah Ab advised highway users to not just be careful of their own safety, but also the safety of other motorists.

"Do not be selfish as it can be detrimental to others. The emergency lane is not a place to hang out or take pictures. Please find a suitable place."
