[VIDEO] Police Officer Kicks Motorcyclist Who Allegedly Tried To Avoid A Roadblock
The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) are currently investigating the police officer who kicked the motorcyclist.
A video showing a traffic police officer kicking a motorcyclist, causing him to fall off his bike, has gone viral
In the 15-second long video, three motorcycles can be seen approaching several traffic policemen on duty.
A police officer then gestures to request the motorcyclists to stop, but one rider can be seen making a U-turn before the policeman can reach him.
Seeing the rider trying to escape, another policeman who is manning the traffic behind quickly runs toward the rider and kicks the alleged runner.
The kick causes the rider to lose control over his motorcycle, hitting the metal railing by the roadside before finally falling to the ground.
Seconds later, the rider stands up, seemingly uninjured from the fall.
The video was taken at Jalan Temple in Sibu, Sarawak at 12.15pm yesterday, 25 August
According to New Straits Times, the police officer who kicked the rider is currently being investigated by the police department.
Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said stern action will be taken against the officer if he is found to be guilty of acting aggressively and has been negligent in his actions.
Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit added that although the motorcyclist did not file a police report over the matter, the police will still look into it, reported The Star.
A preliminary investigation found that the rider did not have a licence and was riding a modified motorcycle
He has been identified as a 24-year-old who works at a hotel nearby. The police have seized his motorcycle.
"The road tax of the machine had also expired and it was not under insurance coverage," Stanley revealed.
"Summonses have been issued to the motorcyclist. He has admitted to the offences and has decided not to file a police report."
In light of this incident, Stanley urged members of the public not to make any U-turn whenever they see a police officer because it would imply that the motorists could be a criminal trying to avoid arrest.
