Video Shows Adults Trying To Free 3-Year-Old's Arm From Escalator Handrail In Klang Mall
Selangor's Department of Occupational Safety and Health (JKKP) confirmed that the escalator is in good working condition.
On Sunday, 14 September, videos showing a three-year-old boy's hand stuck inside an escalator handrail went viral
The incident happened at GM Klang Wholesale City, Klang, reported China Press.
Based on the CCTV footage, the mother was holding her child's right hand but the boy was playing with the escalator handrail with his other hand, before getting it stuck inside the handrail entry above the ground.
Passers-by quickly surrounded the boy, offering tools like a screw driver and a lug wrench in an attempt to help.
Fortunately, the boy did not sustain any severe injuries after receiving help from shoppers and the mall personnel
The boy was rushed to the Klang General Hospital and it is learned that he only sustained minor skin bruises.
Selangor's Department of Occupational Safety and Health (JKKP) ran a check on the escalator after the incident and found that it was in good working condition
In a statement, GM Klang Wholesale City said they stopped the operation of the escalator after the incident.
The mall said the escalators in the mall go through regular maintenance in accordance with the safety measures and guidelines.
However, they will be carrying out more stringent security checks to ensure the safety of the shoppers.
