[UPDATE] Woman arrested for speeding down the opposite side of a road in KL
The Star reported that the female driver who was filmed driving down the opposite side of Jalan Pandan Indah on 20 August has been arrested.
According to Selangor Traffic Investigations and Enforcement Department chief Supt Azman Shari'at, the 27-year-old came forward and confessed at Ampang Jaya police station on Wednesday, 21 August.
The driver had admitted to entering the wrong lane by accident
"She was driving against the flow of traffic while going home because she had entered the wrong lane," Supt Azman explained.
"She then [panicked] and continued driving in hopes of exiting the lane as quickly as possible," he told The Star on Thursday, 22 August.
Supt Azman added that a urine test conducted on the driver had come back negative and that the woman is now out on police bail.
The white Perodua Alza was seen driving at high-speed against traffic along Jalan Pandan Indah at around midnight on Tuesday, 20 August
The 45-second Facebook video posted by Info Roadblock JPJ/Polis went viral with over 2,500 shares.
According to The Star, Supt Azman said that authorities were on the hunt to arrest the driver.
He added that statements were recorded from drivers who were involved in an accident with the vehicle.
Police also checked CCTV footage taken by cameras located along the highway.
The public was previously urged to come forward with any information regarding the incident
Supt Azman said to contact the nearest police station if anyone had information that could have helped with the investigation, The Star reported.
