A Malaysian man recently gained attention for his unusual fishing spot — the indoor canal of a popular shopping mall in Seri Kembangan, Selangor

A video of the unidentified man went viral on TikTok on 6 October, showing him fishing inside The Mines Shopping Mall.

The man, with a pink sling bag and fishing rod, stood near a restaurant, trying to catch a fish from the mall's water feature.

A mall security officer is seen speaking into a walkie-talkie before gesturing for the man to stop. However, the man ignored the request, continuing to fish, much to the amusement of curious shoppers.

A follow-up video of the incident was posted by the same user yesterday, 10 October

It shows the man leaving his original spot with an empty fishing rod in hand, only to relocate elsewhere within the mall to continue fishing.

Before changing spots, he is seen defiantly tapping the security officer on the shoulder.

Netizens have left numerous humorous comments on both TikTok videos

Several of them jokingly suggested that this activity could be useful for husbands waiting for their wives to finish shopping.

"If the mall allowed fishing, I believe many husbands would be willing to wait three to four hours for their wives," said a TikTok user.

"Alright then, wife goes shopping, husband goes fishing," said another.

"He's willing to fish and doesn't care about being fined, maybe better than waiting eight hours for his wife to go shopping," joked another.
