3 UiTM Students Die After Being Hit By SUV While Returning To Campus After Dinner

Three students from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Dungun died after being hit by an SUV in Kampung Sura Hujung, Terengganu yesterday, 9 October

According to Harian Metro, the incident occurred at 7.20pm when a Honda CRV collided with two motorcycles carrying four students.

The collision caused one of the victims to be thrown into a drain, while the CRV skidded and ended up in another nearby drain.

The deceased were accounting students Ku Adib Aizab Ku Azmi and Khairil Anuar Jamaluddin, as well as hospitality student Mohd Akhmal Tukirin.

All victims were confirmed dead by medical officers at the scene.

The fourth student, Mohd Ammar Danish Mohd Rodhuan, survived the accident and was rushed to Dungun Hospital.

Dungun district police chief Supt Maizura Abdul Kadir said the accident occurred while the students were heading back to campus after dinner

He said the case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.

Berita Harian reported that one of the victims is the son of the newspaper's assistant editor.

At the time of the accident, her parents were on a flight to perform Umrah as part of an employee programme.

Upon being informed of the tragedy, the parents boarded a return flight to Kuala Lumpur at 1.55am today, 10 October.

The CRV driver was arrested after the accident.
