The many nights driving on dark winding roads up the hill to be greeted by the bright, bustling, cozy, chilly atmosphere that is Look Out Point; the plethora of restaurants and the amazing view of the Kuala Lumpur skyline; Look Out Point was the best kept secret of KL, and will be dearly missed.

It is an amazing place. Good restaurants where there are excellent BBQ food from the restaurant "The Haven". The view was amazing, beautiful, breathtaking. Even with such words, it cannot describe the feeling.

Look Out Point is actually a western restaurant on top of the hill. but the name stuck and the place is not called LOP. The view was breathtaking! the air there was fresh and it was romantic.

Tourism brochures and road signages pointing to the direction of what used to be a tourist attraction that offered the best view of Kuala Lumpur's skyline -- Look Out Point -- will soon be removed as it has been announced that the place will be closed to visitors.

The permanent closure was announced by the Selangor state government following a slope study that was done by Malaysian Public Works Institute (Ikram).

Studies have concluded that the entire area where the Look Out Point is located is unsafe due to its unstable earth structure. Ikram had concluded that the area including where Look Out Point is located was no longer suited for any activities as there were soil movements.

Initially, residents, traders and diners made it clear that they were not happy with the closure

OWNERS, workers and even diners at several restaurants at Ampang Look Out Point (ALOP) in Jalan Ampang-Hulu Langat had a rude shock on Wednesday evening when the Kajang Municipal Council instructed them to vacate the premises and issued a closure order.

It is learnt that about 40,000 people visited the centre each month. Based on estimates, the restaurants generate businesses worth about RM800,000 monthly should each visitor spend a minimum of RM20 on each meal.

NOV 16: Jalan Ampang-Hulu Langat is closed to all vehicles following a landslide near the Ampang Lookout Point in Bukit Ampang yesterday evening.
