New KL car number series

The new series of vehicle registration plates beginning with “W1A” is expected to be introduced in the third week of next month.

Currently, RTD specifies the plates to be in the 'Ariel Bold' font, with specific measurements in front of the lettering, between the lettering and numbers and at the end of the plate.

The regulations include the normal specifications such as the fonts being visible for up to 18 meters in daylight and 15 meters at night. The plates have to be displayed upright at the front and rear of a vehicle.

“In connection with this, it has been decided that new registration of vehicles for the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur after the WYY series will begin with W 1 A and end at W 9999 A.

The next in the series will be from W 1 B till W 9999 B, followed by W 1 C and so on. After the series ends at W 9999 Y, it will continue with WA 1-9999 A.

The new series will end at WYY 1-9999 Y.
