The Finance Ministry has unveiled its diesel subsidy aid programme, which will offer RM200 per month to eligible applicants starting mid-June

In an X post published last night, 27 May, the ministry announced that applicants can begin applying for the subsidy aid, named BUDI MADANI, starting today, 28 May.

Three categories of recipients will be eligible for the subsidy:
1. Individuals
2. Agriculture and commodity smallholders
3. Public vehicle and land freight transport owners

Here are the eligibility criteria for each category of applicants

For individuals, recipients must:
– be a Malaysian
– have an annual income of RM100,000 or less
– possesses a diesel-engined vehicle registered with the Road and Transport Department (JPJ), excluding luxury vehicles that are less than 10 years old
– have an active road tax on the vehicle

The ministry will verify applicants' information with the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) to determine their eligibility.

For agriculture and commodity smallholders, recipients must:
– be registered as a farmer or commodity smallholder with the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry or the Plantation and Commodities Ministry
– be an active agriculture or commodity smallholder generating an annual turnover of between RM50,000 and RM300,000

The above two categories are new initiatives under the BUDI MADANI programme, which complements the existing MySubsidi Diesel Fleet Card programme for public vehicles and land freight transports.

"To date, nearly 90,000 fleet cards have been issued to land transport and logistics companies.

"The fleet cards allow eligible logistics companies to purchase subsidised diesel at fuel retail stations, ensuring minimal cost impact on the logistics and supply value chain, directly reducing the risk of price increases for the rakyat," the ministry said in a statement.

Those who want to receive the monthly RM200 diesel subsidy aid can apply from now until 3 June

The ministry said approved applications after 3 June will receive their first cash assistance within two weeks and monthly thereafter.

"The cash assistance will be credited into the individual’s bank accounts every month. Individuals without bank accounts will be able to collect their BUDI Individu cash assistance at any Bank Simpanan Nasional branch throughout Peninsular Malaysia," it said.
