Fast food chain KFC seems to have landed itself in hot soup again after a video showing one of its employees making a rude gesture at a group of customers went viral

The incident was reported to have happened at KFC Taman Putra sometime after 2pm on 25 April. According to the FB post, a group of 15 to 20 students had gone to the restaurant for lunch after their co-curricular events.

To accomodate for their party, the group had rearranged the tables to form a long table so as to fit all of them in one place. They then asked the staff to help them clean up the leftovers on the tables.

At that, one staff member asked them why they had rearranged the tables and allegedly ordered them to re-organise the tables to their original positions after they were done.

She then proceeded to clean up their tables in a manner that the uploader described as "full of anger and dissatisfaction".

"The staff gave us an unusual reaction by asking us why we arranged the table like that and we were sure that the table did not obstruct the walkway as we just turned it from horizontal to vertical so we can join the table in longish arrangement to fit our huge number of friends.

She began to raise her voice and requested us to organize back the table and seats back to original order after we are finished with our feast. Firstly, why would it be a good idea for her to ORDERED us to do as such? We were the clients right? Then and there, we really don’t mind to help to reorganize the table and chairs, but rather why she have to let us know in the discourteous way?

Then she cleaned the residue with full of anger and dissatisfaction, as in, throw the rubbish or place the tray so hardly and loud as if to release anger and demonstrate pride," stated the post.

The matter did not end there. The staff member - identified by her name tag as Nureen - returned to take photos of the group, prompting them to record the following video:

Good evening Mr/Mrs,Lunch in KFC Taman Putra on 25th April 2015 around 2pm++ after we had finished the school curricular events. We were in an enormous group like 15 to 20 people. We arranged our own particular table and seats and we asked for the staff to help us to clean up the chaos on the table after we done arranging our own table. Even so, the staff gave us an unusual reaction by asking us why we arranged the table like that and we were sure that the table did not obstruct the walkway as we just turned it from horizontal to vertical so we can join the table in longish arrangement to fit our huge number of friends. Then she cleaned the residue with full of anger and dissatisfaction, as in, throw the rubbish or place the tray so hardly and loud as if to release anger and demonstrate pride. We looked at her name tag and recognized her name as Nureen. We thought ok, maybe she is a bit too stress for her job or what. After a while, she went down and came up again to the second floor. This time, the name tag has already been removed. We wondered why. Then she started to give us weird glance and took our photo silently. Sadly, she din silent her shuttle sound. When we realize that, we look at her and wanted to take a photo of her because we started to feel threatening. What have we done wrong until she wanted to take our photo? We really don’t understand. We were just there for our lunch, why was it so wrong? She then showed her middle finger to us which we really feel that that is a bit too over. We can tolerate the rude attitudes, but why was it showing middle finger? Did KFC really filter there staff properly? Why the staff has such low emotional quotient when they are actually in the service line? We are paying the service tax and this is the service that we deserve? We are student, but we were not eating free in the restaurant, why we deserve this kind of treatment? We are looking for a good explanation from them. Please share this as we want KFC to response on this and take prompt and instantaneous action to the particular staff.Disclaimer: We are saying "zoom zoom zoom" in the video because to see her face clearly, not provoking her.

You can read the full account of the incident here.

Predictably, the video sparked no small amount of outrage from Facebook users, who remarked on the lack of supervision from the store's manager as well as the blatant disrespect and rudeness displayed by the staff member in question

However, there were also some who urged the public to not jump into conclusions before getting the employee's side of the story, suggesting that the act may have been provoked and that the "customer is always right" mentality is not always applicable

Whether or not the group of students had any part in inciting such a dramatic reaction from the KFC employee, the general consensus it that she should not have made the rude gesture especially since she was aware that she was being recorded

Meanwhile, KFC has issued an apology in response to the video. The statement also confirms that the employee in question has been suspended following an internal investigation and assures the public that KFC will continue to strengthen their existing training programs.
