Woman Allegedly Killed Her Housemate And Then Stuffed The Body In A Box In Penang
The body was found by a scavenger at Pearl Hill, Tanjung Bungah in Penang late last month.
Police have detained a 28-year-old Indonesian woman suspected of killing her housemate, who was found stuffed in a box at Pearl Hill, Tanjung Bungah in Penang on 23 May
A decomposed body of a woman was found near an undergrowth at Puncak Bukit Mutiara around 1.00 pm by a man who was in the area looking for empty cans and bottles.
Timur Laut district police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said the victim, in her 30s, was clad in a T-shirt and short pants and believed to have died not more than 10 days ago.
He said the body was found with a blanket on top of it next to a cardboard box about 20m from the hill road.
“She did not have any document on her. We suspect the box was used to dump the body at the scene,” ACP Mior told reporters at the scene.
According to Georgetown OCPD ACP Mior Faridalathrash Wahid, post mortem results indicated that the woman was killed at least 10 days before her body was discovered. There were also no signs of struggle on the victim's body, suggesting that she was not killed by a stranger.
Police identified the deceased from a name on a bracelet she was wearing and after checking her Facebook account.
“The victim and the suspect were housemates for almost 10 years,” Mior said.
Police believe that the motive of the murder was an unsettled RM8,000 loan. ACP Mior added that a lorry driver may have been roped into the crime as an unsuspecting accomplice.
The woman was believed to have been killed in her house before the body being taken to Pearl Hill by the suspect and an accomplice using a rented lorry.
“The lorry driver did not know he was helping to dump a murder victim,” Mior said.
