Woman Beheaded At A Church In Nice By A Knife-Wielding Man Who Also Killed 2 Others
The knife-wielding suspect reportedly shouted "Allahu Akbar".
A knife-wielding attacker has reportedly beheaded a woman and killed two other people at a church in the southern French city of Nice
In the attack, several others were left injured, The Guardian reported today, 28 October.
The suspected assailant has since been detained by security forces.
"The situation is now under control," AFP reported police spokeswoman Florence Gavello as saying.
Nice's mayor Christian Estrosi said this was a terror attack
The mayor took to his Twitter to describe the situation on sight, saying that, "I can confirm everything lets us think this was a terror attack at the heart of the Notre-Dame basilica."
Estrosi also said the attacker had shouted the phrase "Allahu Akbar"
According to a report in Reuters, the mayor said that the attacker had shouted the phrase "Allahu Akbar", meaning 'God is greatest', even after he had been detained by police.
"The suspected knife attacker was shot by police while being detained, he is on his way to the hospital, he is alive," Estrosi was reported as saying, adding, "Enough is enough".
It's time now for France to exonerate itself from the laws of peace in order to definitively wipe out Islamo-fascism from our territory
