On 3 February, a 38-year-old Indonesian woman died from trying to break up a fight between her husband and their eldest child

The woman tried to calm them down when she heard them fighting at around 8pm on Saturday, but that only further angered her husband.

The 40-year-old Indonesian husband then kicked and bashed his wife until she fell on the floor.

According to Sandakan police chief Asst Comm Mohd Azhar Hamin, the woman lost consciousness when her head hit the floor

He also revealed that neighbours who heard the commotion in the family's house sent her to the hospital.

New Straits Times reported that police were alerted by the hospital about the death of the woman. After that, an investigation team rushed to the victim's house at Kampung Sandak, Batu 10 to find that the husband and children had run away.

The police arrested the husband at 6.30am yesterday following a tip-off
