Woman Runs Away From Private Hospital After Learning Insurance Didn't Cover Her Illness
Attempts by the authorities to reach the woman have failed as she is nowhere to be found.
A 32-year-old woman ran away from a private hospital in Kedah after learning that her illness was not covered under her insurance
According to Kuala Muda district police chief ACP Zaidy Che Hassan, the woman was admitted to the hospital at 6.40pm last night, 24 October, and was nowhere to be found four hours later at 10.40pm.
Harian Metro quoted him as saying that the woman ran away without making any payment after the private hospital informed her at 9.30pm that her insurance didn't cover the cost of her treatment.
When informed, she refused to continue the treatment and wanted to leave the ward, at which point, the nurse told the doctor on duty before carrying out the discharge process.
"The patient was also asked to pay the fee and take medicine at the pharmacy," Zaidy said.
The hospital has since lodged a police report against the woman
Initially, the hospital staff attempted to contact the woman through her phone number.
After the police report was lodged, attempts by the police to reach her have also failed.
"The police also contacted the patient, but there was no answer. They tried to find her at home, however, the woman was nowhere to be found and the door was locked," Zaidy said.
The woman had gone to the hospital as she had a stomach ache
At the time of being warded, she said that she had insurance.
"The examination found that the patient had gastritis, but her insurance did not cover the woman's illness, so she was discharged from the ward," Zaidy said, adding that the police are still conducting further investigations and are tracking the patient.
