54-Year-Old Bruneian Dies While Taking Part In A 5KM Run In The Kuching Marathon

Kuching district police deputy chief SuperintendentFauzilan Abdul Aziz said the victim fainted while running along Jalan Muhibbah and was immediately brought by ambulance to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) here. However, he was confirmed dead upon arrival at SGH at 7am.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Abdul Aziz Japar. He was 54 years old.

“The victim arrived here last Friday with several friends to participate in the run,” Aziz said.

The inaugural event, organised by Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) and the Kuching Marathon Association (KMA), received 5,500 participants from 30 countries

About 2,000 runners out of the more than 5,000 participants were foreigners. Bruneians made up the majority of the overseas runners.
