That Gold Medal Could Be Ours For Real #ItuDia #IniKalilah #MalaysiaMemangBoleh
You'll get goosebumps watching that video at the end.
Okay, this whole Olympic build-up is officially 10 times more intense than waiting for Pokémon GO to launch in Malaysia
Our men's doubles team has arrived at the badminton finals.
Malaysia has been wanting to win our first Olympic gold medal since forever
Here's a look at what we've won since 24 years ago:
Now that our awesome divers have won a Silver and our mixed doubles pair is currently just ONE match away from a possible Gold, Malaysia is SO CLOSE to the sweetest Olympic victory in national history
So it's a major deal that our shuttlers Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong 'tapao-ed' China’s Chai Biao and Hong Wei in the semi-finals tonight
The Malaysian men's doubles pair won 21-18, 12-21, 21-17 in 64 minutes and will meet either China’s Fu Haifeng and Zhan Nan or Great Britain’s Marcus Ellis and Chris Langridge in the finals on Friday, 19 August 2016.
Malaysians who watched the match agreed that they were on an "emotional rollercoaster"
"I was really happy during the first set when we took the lead and kept it till the end. At the second set, they made so many mistakes and kept giving away points, so that was definitely disappointing!" said Gowri Martin, who was watching the match at home with her family.
"The final set was extremely nerve-wracking - both sides gained points back to back, we were all so anxious. When they finally won, my mum and I screamed the house down!"
"I felt a bit 'boh song' (dissatisfied) when one of the Chinese players exclaimed 'Awwyes!' when they levelled 18-18 during the first set"
Another Malaysian badminton fan said that he screamed throughout the match and lost his voice. "But it was all worth it."
While Malaysians in the Rio stadium were hyperactively rooting for the pair with all their might...
Morten Frost Hansen of BAM confessed that he was "positively surprised with the men's doubles"
Hansen, the technical director of BAM (Badminton Association of Malaysia) said that the men's doubles pair could win the gold medal "if they played to their full potential".
He is confident that Datuk Lee Chong Wei will win the gold medal, while mixed doubles pair Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying is his next bet.
Chong Wei is forecasted to meet Taiwan's Chou Tien Chen in the quarterfinals tomorrow, Wednesday, 16 August, before battling it out with Lin Dan in the semi-finals on Friday.
Whatever happens in the finals, Malaysians will remember 2016 as yet another epic year of battling it out for the recognition our national shuttlers deserve
This epic video of people cheering hysterically in a condo is the most satisfying way to wrap this all up. <3
