1. The game was a tight affair and one of the main chances in the first half was a free kick by Lionel Messi that landed safely in the hands of the Dutch keeper
2. A few chances here and there, but Dutch winger Arjen Robben could have won it for Netherlands in the dying minutes of regular time
3. The game was forced into extra time and Argentina had the better chances of the two, and missed a wonderful opportunity to score
At the end, the game was forced into penalties. The Netherlands missed two of their penalties while Messi and company scored all four. The Argentines move on.
