National striker N.Thanabalan was the hero of the night when he scored in the 87th minute to edge Indonesia 1-0 in the semi-final at the Shah Alam Stadium.

The goal secured a win to ensure that Malaysia face defending champions, Thailand in the finals tomorrow, 29 August.

While Malaysians on the pitch rejoiced over the results, it left the Indonesian players feeling dejected after their loss

The Indonesian players carried the hopes of their country on their shoulders to potentially deliver a gold and it was only towards the end of the game that they slipped.

The defeat was clearly too much to take for the Indonesian team as they were in tears and laid on the ground in disappointment at the final whistle.

However, in what was described as a touching display of sportsmanship, the Malaysian players found time to console their tearful Indonesian opponents after the match

They were seen embracing the broken-hearted Indonesian team players

It was indeed one of the most uplifting moments in the SEA Games that will be remembered in times to come

There were no insults or demeaning chants, only hugs and words of encouragement...

...and when Indonesian keeper Satria Tama Hardiyanto couldn't find the strength to stand, our Malaysian keepers and an official picked him up

We definitely need to see more of this in sports :')
