14 Things To Know About Flymojo And Why Some Are Frowning At Its Name
It's being said that it will play a key role in improving connectivity between Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak and other parts of the region.
1. On 17 March, a new Malaysian-owned airline called 'flymojo' was launched at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) 2015 exhibition
2. According to information available to the Rakyat Post, flymojo is owned by Fly Mojo UK Ltd, registered in 2013 in London
3. However, a flymojo spokesperson said the new airline is fully Malaysian-owned. Details about flymojo's owners wasn't disclosed.
4. The company behind the airline said it has signed a deal with Canadian plane-maker Bombardier Inc. to buy 20 CS100 aircraft for about RM5.44 billion
While the agreement is good news for Bombardier, it's development of the CSeries, a new flagship jetliner, has been marred by extended delays and technical issues.
5. CS100 aircrafts are designed to be 20% more fuel-efficient than similarly sized planes. They are specifically designed for the 100 to 149 seat, single-aisle market.
6. Flymojo will be based out of Johor Bahru and Kota Kinabalu. It's all set to begin flying in the first quarter of 2016.
7. It's not a low-cost airline
"It's for those who have flown low cost and wants more but not paying full premium. We price ourselves between full service and hybrid," the Malaysian Reserve reported via its source.
8. Set to become the first customer and operator of the CS100 aircraft in the region, it's targeting travel within Asean and the regions bordering it
9. Flymojo plans to transform Senai into a key regional aviation and logistics hub, augmenting the government's initiatives in developing Iskandar Malaysia and the Southern Corridor
10. Its ultra-modern fleet aircraft will play a key role in improving connectivity between the Peninsula and Sabah and Sarawak, as well as other parts of the region
11. The new airline will not replace Malaysia Airlines, nor is it seen as a threat to AirAsia by aviation analysts
12. Public reaction towards the announcement varies from some looking at it as a scope for new job opportunities:
"@syapiqsubri: After MAS, Malindo . Here we go FlyMojo!. Another Malaysia own airline. pic.twitter.com/JalBqQQhJd" yay peluang pekerjaan.

@patchouliw @mrbrown in cantonese, "mo zhor" means "no more". or in a different context, "gone".
