The new Galaxy S9 and S9+ look similar to their predecessors. Just like the Galaxy S8 and S8+, the newest flagship devices will have a 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch Quad HD+ Curved Super Amoled infinity screen respectively.

However, what you really should pay attention to is the upgrades made to the phones' interiors, and here's what you should know:

1. The 12-megapixel Galaxy S9 camera is now a combination of function and fun

Samsung introduced new features such as Super Slow-mo, Dual Aperture, AR Emoji, and an improved version of its artificial intelligence assistant, Bixby.

This means that you can now capture small moments that pass too quickly to be seen by the naked eye, and take clear pictures in various lighting conditions thanks to a mechanically adjustable aperture, switching between f/1.5 to f/2.4 depending on surroundings.

In another move perceived to be a take on Apple's Animoji, the new AR Emoji feature generates a personalised 3D avatar that looks just like you.

Furthermore, Samsung's version of Siri, Bixby now has nine different camera modes including Text, Food, Makeup, Wine, Shopping, Image, QR Code and more. These functions will give users instant information about their surroundings.

2. The Galaxy S9 retains the 3.5mm headphone jack, and comes with AKG-tuned stereo speakers that are 40% louder

The stereo speakers have been positioned at the earpiece and bottom of the device, which will provide a Dolby Atmos effect to give users the 360-degree listening experience, either with or without headphones.

3. Even though the Galaxy S9 looks and feels the same as the S8, you won't be able to use your S8 phone case on the S9

According to The Verge, the two phones have slightly different dimensions, and the S9 weighs a little more than the S8.

Apart from that, the fingerprint scanner on the S9 is now at the bottom of the camera, which makes it easier to reach. So, it's time for a new phone case!

4. The Galaxy S9 has the same battery size, RAM, and internal storage as the S8

According to Techradar, the new flagship phone retains a 3,000mAh battery size, 4GB RAM, and a 64GB internal storage.

Like the S8, the S9 also has an IP68 rating, which means it is water resistant to a maximum depth of 1.5m for up to 30 minutes, and is protected from dust, dirt and sand without the need for extra caps or covers.

The Galaxy S9 will be released on 16 March globally, featuring the colours Midnight Black, Coral Blue, and Lilac Purple
