Whenever we think of Apple's iconic virtual assistant, the words 'Hey Siri' simultaneously come to mind

However, that era may soon come to a close, as the company is training the endearing virtual assistant to carry out commands without the first half of the prompt command, as reported by CNN Business.

So you'll probably be able to wake up your iPhone by just uttering 'Siri' soon.

Although a seemingly small change, making the switch requires extensive AI training and engineering work

According to Bloomberg, Apple has been working on this for several months now, and is hoping to put the plan into motion as early as next year or 2024.

Additionally, the company has tested the new trigger word with employees to collect the necessary data.

Beyond the shorter wake word, Apple is also working on integrating Siri on third-party apps and services for a more refined user experience

NDTV wrote that Apple is also working to improve Siri's ability to comprehend and process user requests. Additionally, the smart assistant will also be reworked to grasp the trigger 'Siri' in various different accents and dialects.

We're really gonna miss the iconic 'Hey Siri' phrasing, ngl :')
