Introducing a next generation of iPads, Apple on Tuesday unveiled the iPad Air, a 9.7 inch screen tablet.
The new iPad has a Retina display with a smaller bezel.
Apple said that the new iPad is thinner, lighter and more powerful than before. The new iPad Air is 43 percent thinner than the version it replaces, weighs just one pound (450 grams), and is "screaming fast," Apple vice president Phil Schiller said at an unveiling.
Apple also unveiled the new iPad mini with Retina display which was much-awaited. The Retina iPad mini has twice the screen resolution than the first model at 2048x1536p in the same 7.9-inch display.
It also runs on the 64-bit A7 chipset, a huge upgrade over the A5 chip used in the previous version. The new iPad mini too will be launched in November and come in Silver and Space Grey colours.

The mini-tablet also runs iOS 7 and comes with the same 5MP iSight and 1.2MP front camera for FaceTime. The Retina iPad mini will cost $399 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model and $529 for 16GB Wi-Fi and 4G variant. The 32GB, 64GB and 128GB Wi-Fi models have been priced at $499, $599 and $699, while their respective Wi-Fi and cellular variants cost another $130 over and above for each model.

Apple has officially announced a 22 October event in San Francisco's Yerba Buena Centre at 10am PDT (6pm BST). The invite's tagline "we still have a lot to cover" suggests that Apple will touch on multiple products at the event.

The invitations came about a week after unconfirmed reports that Apple will show off a new version of its popular iPad tablet computer that will be thinner than its predecessor and boast improved camera capabilities.
An upgraded version of the iPad mini with an improved screen is also expected. The iPad remains the largest-selling tablet, according to surveys, but its market share is being eroded by rivals using the Google Android operating system.

The iPad Mini may have soon have the Midas touch. Chinese website DoNews has posted two photos of what it claims is a gold, or "champagne" colored, iPad Mini with Touch ID fingerprint sensor.
The photos and speculation come ahead of Apple's rumored media event on October 15th, where the company is expected to reveal updated versions of the iPad and iPad Mini, along with potential appearances from new a Mac Pro and a revamped Apple TV.
