If You Haven’t Received Your UniFi Upgrade, You Might Have To Wait ‘Til End Of The Year
TM had initially said that the upgrade will be implemented from January to June 2017.
Earlier this year, TM rolled out a campaign to upgrade existing UniFi packages to the next best tier. However, subscribers might have to wait 'til end of the year to receive their free Internet upgrades
According to The Star, Telekom Malaysia (TM) aims to complete the upgrades by end of this year.
The upgrades came after the announcement of Budget 2017 in October last year, which Prime Minister Najib Razak promised that fixed-line broadband services like UniFi, Streamyx, Maxis Fibre and Time Broadband would be offering higher connectivity speeds for a lower price.
TM deputy chief executive officer Datuk Bazlan Osman said only 22 percent or 640,000 UniFi users have had their packages upgraded
"The broadband speeds will be upgraded in phases according to network availability. This service upgrade has no major impact on our average revenue per user (ARPU) as the higher broadband speeds will entice more subscriptions to our value-added services, such as security and surveillance, and premium channels on HyppTV," he said as quoted by The Star.
Initially, it was mentioned on TM's site that the free speed upgrade will be implemented in stages between January to June 2017
Bazlan also touched on webe, the mobile arm of TM. He said that the company has launched the service for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
He added that TM is targeting to a small percentage of its household base to subscribe to webe.
