Instagram Now Tells Everyone When You’re Online. Here’s How To Turn Off The New Feature

Now everyone knows if you're not replying their DMs.

No more lurking on Instagram, folks. In yet another feature no one asked for, Instagram will now tell your friends when you’re last active or online.

Some of my friends simply show as having been “active today,” but on the flip side, it does get specific enough to display “active now” when you're on the app at the very moment.

It’s fair to say that many are not fans of the new feature

The good news is, only the people you follow or have previously chatted with on Direct Message will be able to see your activity status

So don’t be surprised if your friends start hounding you for not replying their messages. :p

Your followers, on the other hand, will not be privy to that information.

In even better news, you can actually turn off the feature and quite easily too! Here’s how:

1. Open the app and head to Settings.
2. Scroll down until you see the new ‘Show Activity Status’ option.
3. Toggle the feature off.

Do note that if you turn the feature off, you will not only hide your own last active status, your friends will not be able to see it either. Not that you need it in the first place anyway.
