There's A Hidden Backspace Function On Your iPhone's Calculator
You don't have to clear out the entire entry anymore.
The iPhone is a pretty great smartphone. It looks great and functions well. But there's one app that has remained constant after all these years - the calculator.
Aside from some cosmetic updates, the faithful calculator has stayed the same on every iteration of the iPhone.
The calculator is cool and all, but using it can be a real pain in the @ss because the calculator lacks a backspace key.
But thanks to a 19-year-old student, a whole bunch of iPhone users just learned about a really basic but hidden capability that's going to change how we use the calculator
It turns out the app does have a backspace function - one that's completely hidden and that you'd probably never find by accident.
According to Buzzfeed, Jazz Johnson found the feature on an old Reddit thread after he became frustrated over messed up calculations.
To correct a number on the calculator, simply swipe either direction across the numbers. Not the keypad numbers, but the numbers up top.
Just as you would with someone you don't want (or want) to match with on Tinder.
The tweet, which was posted on 3 May, went viral and has garnered over 28,000 retweets.
Even long-term iPhone users were equally shocked
I've been an iOS user for the longest time and I didn't know about this too! Maybe this functionality is in the manual and the fault's on me for overlooking it. :(
If you know this all along, good on you! As for those who don't, well, you learn something new everyday! :D
Yeah, yeah, Android users. We know you guys have a backspace key on your calculator. Don't show off k.
