Taking A Dump? Message Someone Who's Doing The Same With Pooductive
Because it's important to stay connected, even when you're on the glorious throne.
There are two types of people in this world: Those who scroll through Insta and WhatsApp with friends while doing the number 2, and those who rush through it! Something like this:
If you fall into the former camp, you might be delighted to know that there's a new app to keep you busy while you're minding your private business
The newly launched app, only available for iOS at the moment, started off as a failed Kickstarter
Released by developer Ricardo Gruber, the free iPhone app Pooductive offers anonymous messaging, with the hook that everyone you encounter will be similarly occupied.
Gruber will be hoping that Pooductive is more popular with iPhone owners than it was with visitors to crowdfunding site Kickstarter earlier this year. A campaign trying to raise €10k ( to make the app attracted just three backers and €184 of pledges before it was cancelled.
Since three quarters of smartphone owners admitted to using their devices while warming up the porcelain, Gruber decided to take advantage of that
The fact that there is only little to do whilst tending to ‘number two’ is common knowledge, and truly a first world problem.
Think of it as a magical place where people from around the globe can anonymously meet to enjoy their time of zen, peace and tranquility together, by conversing, philosophizing and sharing ideas with each other. You could simply call it a messaging app if you wanted to, but it’s so much more.
Deeply intrigued by the app, our writer John decided to give it a try. He may or not may have tried it on the toilet bowl. You'll never know. ;)
Just like any other social network app, you'll need to register yourself an account, pretty self-explanatory
You can choose either to be in a group chat or 1-on-1 chat (for a more intimate experience)
Once you've joined a chat, you can't do anything else but to exchange messages with other users
There is, however, a rather interesting 'songs to describe it' feature
Pooductive also lets you share rather vivid descriptions of your, um activity, based on well-known tunes such as The Eagles' "Life in the Fast Lane" or "The Imperial March" from The Empire Strikes Back.
mashable.comOur personal favourite is 'Let It Rain' by Eric Clapton!
The app is good fun. But we're not sure if our writer John can sit through another conversation about poop...
While the app may come off as ridiculous and gross to some, the developers of Pooductive said they hope to use the app to help promote clean water and sanitation around the globe
Pooductive developers Gruber and Marco Hernandez contacted the Guardian to explain that there’s more to their app than just chat.
“We hope to connect Pooductive with some big charities that focus on both clean water and improving hygiene in developing countries,” they wrote in an email, adding that press interest came quickly and unexpectedly, so the charitable aspect has not yet launched.
