Temple Run Movie (YES, Movie) Coming To A Cinema Near You...

Temple Run, the game that literally was on everyone's mind since its release in 2011 may become a feature film.

According to English media reports, the popular smartphone game ‘Temple Run’ could be adapted into a film

While it’s easy to see how games like Bioshock and Deus Ex end up in the news for possible film adaptions, it’s more difficult to imagine 'Temple Run' – a game that literally involves running and turning – translating successfully from the realm of handheld gaming to the silver screen.

But it looks like we won’t need to imagine it, as the popular iPhone/Android game is set to follow Angry Birds into the movie business.

In many ways, it’s not really going to be a Temple Run film, per-say, rather an Indiana Jones-style adventure film using the Temple Run franchise to give it a boost from fans of the franchise.

Warner Bros is currently in talks about taking the best-selling Imangi video game to the big screen, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Award-winning English producer Heyman - who also worked on George Clooney and Sandra Bullock's hit film Gravity - is set to oversee the project.

Heyman has worked on all eight of the Harry Potter films starring Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, as well as Hollywood movies such as Yes Man and We're The Millers.

He is also tipped to produce Potter author JK Rowling's next franchise, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.

Temple Run is a popular 'endless running' mobile game that made its debut on Apple's iOS in August 2011. The game was a huge hit, even though it was originally 99 cents to download. Imangi later switched the game to a freemium app i.e. a free app with in-app purchases.

At various points, the game became the most popular free, as well as top grossing app, on the App Store. In March 2012, the game made its debut on Android as a freemium app, and was downloaded over a million times in just 3 days.

In January 2013, Temple Run 2 was released, again on iOS first, and downloaded over 20 million times in just 4 days. A week later, Temple Run 2 came to Android, and soon became the fastest growing mobile game of all times. In March, the original Temple Run finally made its debut on Microsoft's Windows Phone platform.
