Samsung Wants Apple Users To "Move On" From Slow iPhones In Its Latest Ad
The savagery continues.
Last year, Samsung wanted iPhone users to "grow up".
This year, the Korean tech giant wants them to "move on".
This time around, Samsung takes a jab at Apple's battery throttling controversy which had become the butt of all jokes in the tech world.
The Cupertino company admitted that the intention to slow down older models like the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s was to preserve ageing batteries and prevent them from automatically restarting.
The ad tells the tale of a young lady who gradually becomes fed up and irritated with her old iPhone 6
The Wallet app in her iPhone 6 lags when going through immigration at the airport. Then, the TV app dies on her when she needs in-flight entertainment.
There's also the Uber car mix-up that occurs while it’s pouring outside. The problems eventually lead the iPhone owner to make a stop at a local Apple Store for help.
A store staff tells her to disable the performance management option to restore better performance, but that comes with the risk of her phone randomly powering down.
"Or you can just upgrade it," he says sheepishly.
She storms out of the store and bumps into the man from last year's ad. He has a son now and both of them are sporting the same haircuts that mimic the iPhone X's "notch".
She ends up ditching her iPhone and buys a Galaxy S9, remarking about how much faster it is.
