Proton Holdings Bhd (PROTON) has expanded its popular C-segment sedan lineup with the launch of the 2026 Proton S70 Lite and Prime variants, offering everyday practicality at budget-friendly prices
Both models replace the turbocharged engine found in higher trims with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), delivering 120 PS and 150 Nm of torque.
Inside the cabin, standard features include an 8-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto arriving via update in October 2026, an Electric Parking Brake (EPB), six airbags, and Blind Spot Detection.
The S70 Prime variant adds premium comforts for a slightly higher price
While the Lite model comes with halogen headlights and fabric seats, the Prime variant upgrades to automatic LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, leatherette seats, and single-zone automatic climate control.
On-the-road prices without insurance in Peninsular Malaysia start at RM59,800 for the Lite and RM62,800 for the Prime, while East Malaysia pricing starts at RM61,800 and RM64,800, respectively
To mark the launch, PROTON is offering a RM3,000 rebate for registrations by 31 December 2026, dropping entry prices to RM56,800 in Peninsular Malaysia.
Deputy chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Rashid Musa said the models focus on core daily essentials.
"With the Proton S70 Lite and Prime, we're making the S70 more accessible to more Malaysians by focusing on what matters most in daily ownership – space, comfort, convenience, connectivity, and safety," he said.
