This Interactive Online Game Is Created to Assist Young Voters During #GE15
The game aims to help address the propaganda and misinformation surrounding the 15th General Election (GE15).
Seeing as Malaysians will be casting their ballots on 19 November, Malaysia Information Literacy Education (MILE) has created a browser game to help Malaysians who are voting for the first time
Funded by the Google News Initiative and illustrated by Studio Behind 90, the game Are you Yang Bijak? is an expansion of MILE’s popular 2021 Choices I Make game originally created.
"This time, Are you Yang Bijak? will address electoral dis- and misinformation, as well as political and divisive propaganda," said MILE co-founder Darshini Kandasamy in a press release. She also promoted the game on her Twitter account.
"In addition, we aim to teach game users to identify related personal biases that could affect their ability to discern false or misleading information and educate them on the consequences of believing, and spreading them."
This game also aims to educate players on fact-checking and cyber troopers.Throughout the game, players will gain a lot of input from the useful tidbits that they have provided
The game allows players to assume the role of a college student taken in by a social media-savvy politician running in an election.
Additionally, the players will be explained thoroughly about important issues that should be acknowledged during elections while playing the game.Don't forget to press on the ballot box in the right corner to read more additional information about elections:
Once you have reached the end of the game, they will explain why you achieved that kind of result:
Upon the good feedback received following the release of Choices I Make last year in 2021, the MILE team was inspired to develop a game that empowered first-time voters to become informed electorates
"Despite being targeted towards young people and people who have never voted, everyone—regardless of age or prior voting experience—can benefit from the game," Darshini added.
"MILE aspires to help the nation develop better critical thinking and information literacy abilities."
The MILE team also intends to add more characters and storylines to the game after the election, and further explore other forms of political information manipulation from the perspective of different voters.
The game can be played on both mobile and laptop. Play the game in your preferred language below:
