When TIME Internet Welcomed "Latecomer" Telekom Malaysia To The 100Mbps Club...
Feel the burnnnn!
What started out as a cheeky little fun with TIME Internet's Facebook page trying to pull Telekom Malaysia's (TM) Everyone Connects' leg quickly turned into a social media battle of wits that has left Malaysians on the Internet wanting for more
Here's what happened!
After TM finally rolled out its own 100Mbps fibre optic broadband plan, TIME Internet, which was first to upgrade its speed, welcomed the former to the 100Mbps club with a cheeky Facebook post:
Not the one to let it pass, Everyone Connects, TM's own social media page, replied to TIME Internet's post, saying...
...implying how limited TIME Internet's coverage is to urban areas. TM, a government-linked company, on the other hand, has the widest coverage in the country.
But that wasn't the end of it. Far from it. As TIME Internet fired back...
...implying how TIME Internet, a privately-held company, used its own money to invest into its service rollout unlike TM, which has a bigger source of funds as a government-linked company.
Not the one to backdown, the government-linked company retorted:
HSBB refers to HighSpeed Broadband, Malaysia's high-speed Internet service, a project undertaken by TM to improve existing network infrastructure in Malaysia.
However, the above comment by TM didn't gel well with Malaysians following the thread, and they flooded it with their responses:
While we are not sure yet, there's a possibility of the whole thing being an elaborate April fool's prank by TIME Internet and Everyone Connects in cahoots with each other here, considering the date of posting, which was 1 April.
What do you think?
