WhatsApp Is Testing Voice Messages That "Self-Destruct" After You Hear Them Once
WhatsApp is currently in the beta testing phase of its new auto-delete voice notes feature.
WABetaInfo, an independently run platform, announced that WhatsApp is currently in the beta testing phase of its new auto-delete voice notes feature
In November 2020, WhatsApp unveiled Disappearing Messages, a feature that only worked for text messages. Soon, we can expect disappearing voice messages. It's designed to elevate user security while also providing a potential solution for device storage issues.
When recording a voice note, all you need to do is tap on the "1" to the right of the note before sending it
This new feature works exactly like WhatsApp's "view once" photo sharing, allowing photos to be viewed only once. If you want to send a voice note that can only be heard once, tap on the "1" to the right of the voice note waveform and it will automatically become a one-time listen.
The best part of this new feature is that the recipient cannot forward, save, record, or export the self-destructing voice notes to anyone
For better privacy settings, awareness of these details have been included in the self-destructing voice notes.
However, the recipients can still record the voice note on a different device or take a screenshot of the voice note. This indicates that while the feature enhances privacy, it is not foolproof.
Also, the main downside of this feature is that you can't replay it if you need better understanding and clarity
The noise level of the surrounding environment can be a major problem for disappearing voice notes. There is no option for you to replay the voice notes if you missed the first chance to listen.
