Four Men Were Electrocuted While Hanging Party Flags On An Electrical Line In Johor

Yesterday, 22 April, four men suffered electrical shocks when they attempted to hang political party flags on a high tension wire near Muar, Johor

The incident occurred in Kampung Paris Yusof at around 1am, according to a report by New Straits Times.

The group of 10 men were reportedly using a bamboo pole to hang the flags on an electrical line. While trying to lift the pole, a flashover occurred and four of the men were electrocuted.

According to New Straits Times, the men were thrown several metres away from the scene.

All four of the men suffered broken ribs while the others were treated for minor injuries

The incident comes a month after Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) advised all political parties contesting in GE14 to not put up campaign materials on any of its premises or electrical installations

According to Bernama, TNB chief corporate officer Datuk Roslan Ab Rahman warned the public of a risk of electrocution and flashover that could damage property and endanger lives.

He added that, "This dangerous activity violates Section 37 of the Electricity Supply Act 1990 (Act 447) on damage to electrical installations."
