After 'I Want To Touch A Dog' Event, PAS Youth Leader Asks "What Next, A Sex Fest?"
He also urged Muslims to raise their understanding of Islamic knowledge within themselves, their families and their communities so as not to be swayed by such campaigns.
Following Malaysia's one of its kind event called I Want To Touch A Dog for the curious and eager Muslims on 19 October to overcome their fear of dogs, there has been a massive amount of hue and cry from some Islamic authorities and politicians
Nurul Islam Mohamed Yusof, FT Deputy Chief of PAS Youth, took to social media to put forth his views, saying that there was a valid reason for concern here, especially after events like 'Topless Friday' and 'Oktoberfest' were organised in the country recently
Nurul Islam Mohamed Yusof, deputy chief of PAS Youth, has posted on Facebook, “By organising ‘Topless Tuesday’ at first, followed by the ‘Oktoberfest’, then followed by this ‘I Want to Touch a Dog’ event, we worry that it will be ‘Sex and Condoms’ tomorrow with the rationale of supposedly promoting safe sex in order to prevent HIV/AIDS.”

“Muslims are advised to increase their knowledge of Islam and its appreciation for the self and their families, as well as the society around them. “We hope programmes like the dog-petting event can be prevented sooner in the future,” he added.
thestar.com.my“Our stand against such events is because we consider it a threat to the religious and cultural values practiced in this country, and not because we are paranoid,” Nurul Islam said in a statement on Tuesday.
themalaymailonline.comEarlier, Jakim (Islamic Development Department) too lashed out at the organiser and Muslims alike for going against the teachings of Islam and letting their Islamic beliefs be swayed so easily
According to a Bernama report, the director-general of Jakim Othman Mustapha has now declared that the organisers of the “I want to touch a dog” event had evil plans to lead a new “culture” that insulted Islam and would cause “public anxiety, especially among Muslims”. Now demanding a clarification from Syed Azmi Alhabshi, the sole organiser of the event, Jakim isn’t about to drop the issue anytime soon.
freemalaysiatoday.comThe pressure has been alarming enough to cause the “I want to touch a dog” Facebook page to be hurriedly pulled down, and for Mais (Selangor Islamic Religious Council) to now deny having given its blessings, as claimed by Syed Azmi. According to a news report, Mohd Tamyes Abdul Wahid of Mais said it was MBPJ, the Petaling Jaya City Council, that the matter was referred to, thereby effectively washing their hands off the event, and conveniently dumping MBPJ in the doghouse over it.
freemalaysiatoday.comWhile several senior Islamic clerics have said Muslims are forbidden from touching dogs they are considered "unclean" according to the Shafi'e teachings as practised in the country, former Perlis Mufti Datuk Mohd Asri Zainul, held a differing view
Several senior Islamic clerics, notably Pahang Mufti Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Othman, Selangor Mufti Datuk Tamyes Abdul Wahid and Johor Islamic Religious Council advisor Datuk Nooh Gadut, have said Muslims are forbidden from touching dogs as the animals are considered “unclean” according to the Shafi'e teachings as practised in the country.
themalaymailonline.comHowever, former Perlis Mufti Datuk Mohd Asri Zainul, held a differing view, saying in a recent posting on his Facebook page that Islam allowed Muslims to keep dogs for hunting and protecting purposes, which meant that adherents were not forbidden from touching the animals.
