Man Who Allegedly Tried To Molest A Salesgirl Dies After Severe Beating By Public
The incident happened at a shopping complex in Alor Setar, Kedah.
A man had allegedly tried to outrage a woman's modesty at Plaza Sentosa in Alor Setar, Kedah recently
It was reported that the man allegedly followed a 21-year-old woman to the ladies' toilet on the first floor of the shopping complex during the 4pm incident on Sunday, 29 May.
The 31-year-old man allegedly tried to hug the woman, who works as a sales assistant at the mall, in the toilet before he covered the victim's mouth.
They purportedly struggled for almost 10 minutes before the victim managed to escape and screamed for help. The suspect was said to have punched the victim in her face and abdomen when she fought back.
Members of the public who heard the woman's screaming rushed to her aid and bashed up the man.

According to media reports, the man, who was severely injured in the face, ears, body and legs, was said to be in a critical condition. He fell into a coma due to severe injuries to his head following the attack.
Kota Star District Police chief, ACP Mohd Rozi Jidin confirmed that the man eventually succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah (HSB) yesterday, 30 May.
Meanwhile, the man's sister urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation on the case following her brother's death
The man's sister known as Fizah said that the incident should not have happened as her brother was only 31 years old and he was not given an opportunity to defend himself and was brutally beaten up.
"We had hoped that he would recover so that he could explain what really happened, but Allah loves my brother more," she told reporters when met at HSB yesterday.
The police have detained five suspects linked to the case
Mohd Rozi said that the police managed to track down the suspects eventually and detained five individuals aged between 20 to 40 years old, including a woman, to assist with the investigations.
According to Mohd Rozi, the police have reclassified the case to Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. Prior to the man's death, the case was classified under the Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
"The police are still hunting for more suspects who assaulted the suspect. We urged those involved in the incident to quickly surrender themselves," he reportedly said.
All the suspects have been remanded until 2 June.
