The couple had agreed to leave Sabah on 11 June, but netizens claimed that they have returned to the Land Below the Wind just a day later.
A couple was spotted on the streets of Kota Kinabalu in Sabah begging for accommodation and food recently
It was reported that the couple arrived in Sabah from Kuala Lumpur on 13 May for travel purposes, but have since used a variety of tactics to get sympathy from people and ultimately gain financial resources for lodging and food.
It was learned that the woman would sit in a wheelchair - despite being able to walk - while her husband would push her around the city while they tell people their sob story during their begging spree.
The police have identified the man as a 56-year-old Jordanian while the woman is his wife, who is 48-year-old from Kota Belud.
According to media reports, the couple managed to get a few night stay in several hotels from their begging activities
Kota Kinabalu police chief Asst Comm M. Chandra revealed that they were staying in a few hotels in the city and the last hotel they were staying was in Grand Hotel 1 Borneo on 3 June.
Some locals in Sabah began warning others about the couple's antics on social media, especially not to fall for their tricks and be fooled by them.
The police caught the couple on 10 June, following numerous complaints from the public
According to The Star Online, the couple's passports reveal that they had travelled to many countries before this.
Although the police had no basis to prosecute the couple for committing any offence, they both agreed to leave Sabah.
Chandra said the couple was sent back to Kuala Lumpur after the police bought them a one-way ticket to Kuala Lumpur last Sunday, 11 June.
