The trio made the nominated shortlist after receiving the most number of online votes from an initial stage of 10 players that includes world-famous footballers like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

In February last year, Faiz scored a stunning goal with a swerving free kick at the Stadium Bandaraya in Penang. Footage of his physics-defying goal went viral, instantly catapulting Faiz into international fame.

Speaking in English, Faiz thanked God, his family, the Penang Football Association, and the FA of Malaysia (FAM)
