The Malaysian Women's Dodgeball Team Is Now World Number 1!

After securing the nation's first gold medal in the finals of the World Championships on 22 October, the Malaysian women's dodgeball team is now ranked at the top spot globally!

The Malaysia Association of Dodgeball (MAD) confirmed with The Malay Mail that after the world championships, the women's team is now ranked no.1 in the world stage.

The World Championships this year was held in Melbourne, Australia.

The team took home the gold after beating Canada with a score of 6-5. Oh, it was also the nation's first gold!

"As of 2016, Malaysian female are ranked #1 in the world after defeating team Canada in the gold medal match 6-5 at the recent World Dodgeball Federation (WDBF) 5th World Dodgeball Championships held in Melbourne, Australia," the statement reads as quoted by The Malay Mail Online.

Last year, the women's team was ranked third globally!

The men's team who garnered the silver medal stayed in the second spot worldwide

The world rankings are determined through the annual Dodgeball World Championships' result.
