Apple Has Courageously Removed These Basic Features On The New MacBook Pro
And a groundbreaking price to go with it.
After four long years, Apple has finally announced a new MacBook Pro!
The company showed off the new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro laptops at its headquarters in Cupertino on Thursday, 27 October.
The Macbook Pro is overhauled to be thinner, lighter, and more powerful than its predecessor
According to the company, the 13-inch version of the laptop measures at 14.9mm thick, making it 13% thinner than the MacBook Air.
The 15-inch version weights at four pounds (1.8kg) while the 13-inch laptop comes in three pounds (1.3kg)
The new laptops will have a brighter display with higher contrast. Inside, they are equipped with the Intel Core i5 processor to deliver higher performance.
With an Intel Core i7 processor and a new graphics card, the 15-inch MacBook Pro is more than twice as fast as the previous 15-inch model. The 13-inch model also features improved speed and performance.
With all that aside, what's an Apple release without something groundbreaking and revolutionary?
2016 has been a courageous year for the company. After killing the headphone jack on the iPhone 7, it proceeded to remove a bunch of tried and true laptop features on the MacBook Pro.
Apple killed the 14 function keys like Escape that sat atop the MacBook Pro keyboard and with replaced it with a new display called the Touch Bar. The display can be used to control Mac apps with your fingertips.
But if the Touch Bar sounds too futuristic to you, Apple has announced a 13-inch MacBook Pro with the function keys.
The much-loved Magsafe charger is also no more
The Magsafe is one of the best charger cables in the market. Rather than having a power cable get locked into a laptop, Apple’s MagSafe cables attached magnetically - strong enough to hold on, but weak enough that they would rip off instead of taking a computer with them.
RIP Magsafe, you will be sorely missed.
Staying true to rumours, conventional USB ports have been removed as well
Apple has removed traditional USB ports in favour of USB Type-C in the new Macbook Pro. This also means you would need to resort to some sort of USB Type-C adapter or dongle considering the majority of conventional devices still use the traditional standard.
Lastly, you won't find a HDMI and SD card port in the new laptop
Basically, you'll need an adapter or dongle to pluck in your phone, camera, external monitor, and everything else in between to the new MacBook Pro.
