Esther Applunius, 37, was eliminated during the first episode of Calpis Soda One In A Million (CSOIAM), but this setback won't stop her from pursuing her singing career

Esther, who is from Sabah, was the first contestant to perform on the show's debut night, performing the song Aku Bidadari Syurgamu.

She impressed the audience with her performance, effortlessly hitting high notes and showcasing her vocal talent. Despite this, she was eliminated in the first round.

"I was shocked. Not to say I was overconfident, but I believe I gave the best performance I could," Esther said when asked about her reaction to being eliminated.

Although the result was unexpected, Esther remarked that she had participated in other reality shows before, so she understood the circumstances and accepted the decision.

Esther felt she delivered her best performance, but noted if she could change one thing, it would be her stage appearance

"After all, I am getting older now, and my appearance on Sunday night made me look even older," she joked.

Esther also mentioned that she wanted to change her singing style and improve herself to align with this season's expectations and the audience's preferences.

Esther was among the top three contestants in CSOIAM season 3, and she returned after 15 years to seize another chance at victory

A memorable moment for Esther was when her vocal teacher and the judges praised her live performance, leaving her feeling content and fulfilled.

"Even though I wasn't among the finalists, I'm heading back to Sabah with my head held high.

"Who knows, there might be an opportunity. Perhaps not here, but maybe a surprise will come up later," she added.
