Last Saturday, 13 May, legendary Korean girl group BLACKPINK performed in a show-stopping concert at National Stadium Singapore for their Born Pink World Tour 2023

Singing their hearts out for over 50,000 attendees, members Jisoo, Rosé, Lisa, and Jennie lit up the stage for their 105-minute show. Opening their concert with a string of their biggest hits, some of the numbers the girls performed included How You Like That, Whistle, Don't Know What To Do, Pretty Savage, and Lovesick Girls

According to a report by New Straits Times (NST), each member also showcased their solo songs, with Jennie performing You And Me, Rosé performing Hard To Love and On The Ground, Lisa performing Money and Lalisa, and Jisoo performing Flower.

A moment which took place towards the end of the concert has gained traction online, garnering the attention of millions of people

In a video that was posted on TikTok by a fan account, @jnkclip, the brief moment showed BLACKPINK member Jennie speaking to the audience about something particular she noticed throughout her performance.

"But, I must say, I'm seeing more cellphones than faces today. So — I don't know if I like that — so, for the last two songs, I want everyone to connect and interact with us, sing and dance and just party, okay?" she said before turning around with a smile.

Receiving immense praise for her comment, the TikTok clip has accumulated over a million views and 250,000 likes at the time of writing

Virtually every commenter agreed wholeheartedly with Jennie's message, saying that while they understand taking a few photos and videos at a concert for the sake of memories, recording content throughout the entire performance is unacceptable.

"I can understand Jennie. I don't even like filming the whole time at concerts, like I take two or three videos. When I sit down, I take a few more but that's it!" wrote one person.

Others even said that Jennie had a good point by asking everyone to interact with them and enjoy the concert.

"She just wants people to have fun and enjoy themselves!" supported one user.

While agreeing with the pop star, others couldn't help but make light-hearted remarks during the moment, adding some comic relief to the situation.

"If Jennie said that to me, I would drop my phone out of the stadium," joked one user.

The vast majority of commenters also added to Jennie's perspective on stage, wondering how some concertgoers can be on their phone throughout a 105-minute performance

"Recording a whole performance is crazy to me" penned one user, while another stated that they don't understand why people would record an entire concert instead of enjoying the music and singing along.

"Never understood why people would pay so much to go to concerts just to record. Come on, enjoy the entertainment! That's the point," stated another user.

Providing their own take on the matter, some other users who attended BLACKPINK's Singapore concert stated that they also faced the struggle of dealing with other attendees who had their phones in the air the entire time.

"Not gonna lie, I was so angry because all [I saw was] phones. They still recorded after that!" expressed one person.

Recorded photos and videos are nice, but memories are something that will last a lifetime.
