The movement to urge Macklemore to perform in Kuala Lumpur started in May when Fly FM rallied Malaysians to get his attention
This came after the rapper released a song, titled Hind's Hall, to raise awareness about the atrocities in Palestine.
On 5 June, Fly FM played the song continuously for 24 hours to support the call for a ceasefire in Gaza, aligning with Macklemore's advocacy on the issue.
