A Malaysian-born cosplayer and model, Hakken Ryou, has just been appointed as one of the 16 new Tokyo Tourism Ambassadors

Hailing originally from Sarawak, Ryou has made quite a splash in the cosplaying scene around the globe since unveiling themselves back in 2010. With over 900,000 followers on Twitter and 3.8 million followers on Instagram, Ryou's career has only taken off to greater heights over time.

According to the tweet, Ryou was chosen, among others, as part of a campaign created to promote the charm of Tokyo both domestically and internationally

As appointed by TMG, the goal of the campaign is to revitalise local communities through tourism by increasing the number of visitors to the city.

The Twitter post, published on 13 February, continued on by stipulating that all the selected influencers would begin their duties immediately.

Among the 16, Hololive Production members Sakura Miko, Mori Calliope, and Gawr Gura, film director Alan Poul, and fashion blogger Misha Janette, have also been selected as tourism ambassadors for Tokyo.
