Malaysian media personality Ms Puiyi has filed a civil suit against her former business partner for allegedly cheating her out of RM4.3 million

In a statement posted on her Instagram account today, 22 April, the former adult actress said she filed the lawsuit at the Penang High Court against 29-year-old Lai Kai Jian, also known as 'Mentos'.

She claimed that she was deceived by Lai, who allegedly persuaded her to hand over RM4.3 million.

"He deceived me by promising to resolve my income tax issue with the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN). I trusted him and handed over the said amount of money to him," she said in her statement.

The man allegedly absconded without settling the dues.

Lai was a board member at Ms Puiyi's company

He also handled human resources, payroll, and investments.

He is also accused of misappropriating funds from her company, PY Empire, since June 2022.

She filed a police report on 24 October last year, and the investigation is ongoing.

"Due [Lai's actions], I have suffered losses," she said.

Ms Puiyi said she met Lai through a mutual friend in 2019

According to her, she was told that he was a person with "high integrity".

"I was told [...] I can trust him as a business partner," she said, adding that even though there were some questionable things about the man, she decided to trust him as a director of her company.
