[SPOILER ALERT]: Potential plot lines in the movies are briefly discussed

As we're inching closer to the end of 2022, there have been back-to-back announcements on movies coming soon in 2023.

So, we decided to compile all the movies (so far) that will hit Malaysian cinemas next year:

1. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves | 3 March 2023

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves follows the story of a cunning thief making an alliance with unlikely adventurers in their quest to find a long lost relic. The movie stars Chris Pine as the charming Edgin the Bard, Sophia Lillis as Doric, Michelle Rodriguez as Holga the Barbarian, Regé-Jean Page as Xenk the Paladin, and Justin Smith as Simon the Sorcerer.

The movie is set to release in Malaysia on 3 March 2023.

2. Scream 6 | 10 March 2023

Scream 6 will be the sixth franchise of the cult classic horror and this time it brings back the original characters from the previous movies. The story will follow four survivors of the original Ghostface killings who attempt to leave Woodsboro for New York for a fresh start, except the past comes to haunt.

The movie will see the return of Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, Melissa Barrera as Sam Carpenter, and Hayden Panettiere as Kirby Reed. Meanwhile, there will also be brand-new characters, which include Wednesday's actress Jenna Ortega as Tara Carpenter.

The movie is set to release in Malaysia on 10 March 2023.

As of writing, there are no posters or movie trailer released yet.

3. Shazam! Fury of the Gods | 17 March 2023

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is the second movie of the Shazam! franchise. It follows the story of Shazam who has to take on villains Hespera and Kalypso, along with a team of superheroes.

The movie stars Zachary Levi as Shazam, Asher Angel as younger Shazam, Grace Caroline Currey as Mary Bromfield, Meagan Good as Superhero Darla, and Lucy Liu as Kalypso.

The movie is set to release on 17 March 2023.

4. John Wick: Chapter 4 | 24 March 2023

Keanu Reeves returns as John Wick in John Wick: Chapter Four and this time, the legendary hit man challenges the international High Table and its most powerful players hailing from the underworld, as the price on his head increases. Alongside Keanu Reeves, the cast includes Donnie Yen as Caine, Bill Skarsgård as Marquis, Ian McShane as Winston, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Shimazu.

The movie is set to release in Malaysia on 24 March 2023.

5. The Super Mario Bros. Movie | 7 April 2023

The Super Mario Bros. Movie follows the story of Mario on a quest to save the captured Princess Peach trapped in an underground labyrinth. The movie stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong.

The movie is set to release on 7 April 2023.

6. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 | 5 May 2023

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be the final film in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. In the latest trailer, the Guardians return to the world post-Thanos' snap. While we don't know what the plot will be, it seems clear that Rocket Raccoon will be at the centre of it all, as he gets his own backstory. 

New characters will be introduced, including Will Poulter as Adam Warlock and Chukwudi Iwuji as the High Evolutionary.

The movie is set to release in Malaysia on 5 May 2023.

7. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse | 2 June 2023

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse takes place in Brooklyn, as Miles Morales, played by Shameik Moore, goes on an epic adventure across the Multiverse. Alongside Shameik Moore, the cast includes Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, Oscar Isaac as Spider-Man 2099, Daniel Kaluuya as Spider-Punk, and Jessica Drew as Spider-Woman.

The movie is set to release on 2 June 2023.

8. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts | 9 June 2023

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will be the seventh Transformers movie. The story follows ex-military gearhead Noah and museum researcher Elena as they find themselves entangled within a conflict between the Autobots and the Decepticons, without knowing of their existence disguised as seemingly ordinary human vehicles. This time around, however, the Maximals, Terrorcons, and Predacons will join the fight.

The movie stars Anthony Ramos as Noah, Dominique Fishback as Elena, Michelle Yeoh as Airazor, and Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime.

The movie is set to release on 9 June 2023.

9. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny | 30 June 2023

Beloved hero archaelogist Indiana Jones, played by Harrison Ford, returns to the big screen after 15 years in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. The story continues Indiana Jones' epic adventures in 1969 during the Space Race, where the US government has recruited former Nazis in their race to make it to space. 

Among the casts are Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Helena, Mads Mikkelsen as Voller, and Antonio Banderas as Renaldo.

The movie is set to release on 30 June 2023.

10. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One | 14 July 2023

Tom Cruise makes the final return to the Mission: Impossible franchise as Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. Alongside Tom Cruise are Hayley Atwell as Grace, Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust, Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, and Henry Czerny as Agent Eugene.

The movie is set to release in Malaysia on 14 July 2023.
